Wasn't able to go in as I had my son with me who's under 18 so this is one for the future. In the meantime here's the Post's review below...

It's also worth pointing out that the station has suffered a bad fire this week so I'm looking forward to seeing it restored to its former glory very soon.
Update 22nd Nov 2018:
Finally made it! Quality ale, chilled atmosphere. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. Can't fault it. Lovely way to spend half an hour before travelling.

Barley Twist
The Barley Twist is Castle Rock's latest pub in the City Centre and it replaces a former sweet shop, hence the name. It's part of the new development of shops, bars and cafes between Nottingham station and the Broad Marsh Centre on Carrington Street. It has a brasserie feel but doesn't do food. A small bar at the back with one cask ale, Preservation, which was good, and craft beer in fridges full of cans and bottles much like Junkyard etc. It's definitely a modern twist on the traditional Castle Rock range of pubs and the downstairs seating area is cool and atmospheric.
