Unicorn's Head, Langar

Off the beaten track but work took me to Langar Hall so I stopped off here on the way. Classic country pub with a friendly welcome and a decent pint. Opens at 5:00, not all day which is refreshing.

Park Tavern

An old pub with lounge, smoke room, public bar. Still well kept and quite busy with regulars at 12:30 on a Sunday. Darts and pool. No real ale but a warm enough welcome.

Oxclose

Much more history and character than I think I was expecting. This is a very large and solidly built pub. Very large windows, huge function rooms and games room. A warm welcome from a lady who'd worked there for 16 years. No real ale but very clean and a private beer garden.

The White Post

A landmark Marston's pub that clearly caters for families with a playground and chain style menu but a pub that has a lot of history and one that is pretty huge inside. But the best thing is that the staff really seem to care about quality ale and decent food. The beer I had was excellent and the staff appreciated feedback on the service and quality of the food and drink.

The New Inn, Carrington

Made it! Real ale, smart pub. Pool table.

The Lion

My favourite pub of the moment. Great beer, a fantastic beer garden for this fantastic summer. History (this pub was scheduled for demolition in the early 70's then saved). Friendly locals and a decent view over the neighbourhood complete with park, lawns, smart terraces and the tram. There are few better places in Nottingham City to watch the sun set with a beer. And the pub hosts some great local bands. And it's right next to the former Shipstone's brewery. A fantastic local heritage site.

The Stag

This is definitely off the beaten track for us - Kimberley. But worth it. An historic inn from 1737 and run by an enthusiastic landlady. Great real ale, welcoming locals and full sun on the outside tables when we went! A genuine gem of a pub with character, history, great beer and a warm welcome!
