Part of the Strathdon Hotel but actually, not a bad little boozer. Had never been so took the opportunity on the way to a meeting. Had real ale on and was a quiet little escape on a warm day. Sports news on the TV but not intrusive. Would drop in again for a quiet pint.

Kraft Werks

OK, so not quite a traditional pub but still worthy of a mention. This was an unexpected gem in Sherwood - buzzing atmosphere, a warm welcome and a LOT of craft beer in bottles, cans and on tap. It was full when we visited on a Saturday night. Also had my first sour beer. I will be back.

Abdication

I finally made it to this lovely little micro pub at opening time on a Friday afternoon. Great welcome, great beer with a good choice of ale and one of the best ambiences I've encountered in a micro-pub. The original flooring and traditional decor really makes it feel like a pub rather than a converted shop, for instance. The neighbouring take away also features a Caribbean curry night at the pub and it's clear from what I saw that this pub has an established group of happy regulars.

Nag's Head

This famous, historic old pub is still going and looking smart. No real ale when I went but a warm welcome, home made beef stew and mash and friendly regulars, staff and landlord.

Raglan Road

This one's for Ged Dowling who kindly recommended I visited this Derby Road boozer, and I'm glad I did. I hadn't been since it was the Hawksley and it was quiet on the Friday lunchtime that I went but it's a smart pub with great Doom Bar and a smart interior. Best of all there's a tribute to the iconic Nottingham based film "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" on the wall. Quite different to the Hand and Heart next door. This pub offers more mainstream beers and they were well kept. You also get footy on the TV as well as a great upstairs smoking terrace.

The Nurseryman

A typical Greene King pub - smart, modern interior, sports on the TV but a warm welcome and great IPA.
