Horse and Groom
The best pub in Nottingham. Bar none. Lots of reasons...great beer, history; it was the brewery tap for Shipstone's brewery, a warm welcome every time, it's clean, a lovely snug, decent function room, loads of old beer and brewery memorabilia and a good crowd of regulars that make this place feel like a proper pub where blokes enjoy a decent pint and chat about football. And there'a always some classic old tunes on too.

Boulevard
The Boulevard is an historic, imposing corner pub in Radford, built to serve the construction workers who built the boulevards in this area. This pub has been closed down several times in recent history with a hand car wash operating from its car park. So when it re-opened I had to check it out.
Refurbished to a reasonable standard. Smart manager. No real ale and almost empty. They are hardly ever busy apparently. Some effort being made but you can see this becoming flats like the nearby Gregory in the future. Owners are based in Stoke and also own the Moog.
Update Nov 2013: Now appears to be closed although not boarded up or For Sale yet. Signs of it turning into a "Bites" cafe the same as the Star on North Gate.

The Pelham
Recently reopened. Friendly landlord who said he recognised me. Smart inside. Decent atmosphere on Sunday lunchtime and decent Harvest Pale. Good welcome.
UPDATE 2nd July 2019: closed.

Hotel Deux - The Guitar Bar
This is an unconventional pub! In fact, not a pub at all. But a hotel with a bar, bistro and intimate gig venue. Run by the chap who used to run the Gladstone. Passionate about music and beer. Great ales. Musical performances are often solo singer/songwriters. Cost £5 per gig. Very atmospheric and unique place to go for a drink. A gem of a find!
The Raven
A basic and unchanged, historic, former Home Ales pub. Basic. Welcoming. No real ale. A lot of 50s and 60s rocknroll memorabilia. Lucky to have survived the clearance in the area. Close to the Lion in Basford but definitely relies on its regulars rather than travelling ale fans.
