The Albany

This is probably the last big surprise for me in Nottingham. A pub which I thought had long since closed, still complete with original Shipstone's signage. One of the last (if not THE last) music halls in Nottingham, re-built in 1881 and once hosting George Formby among others in a live broadcast. Apparently gone. A relic from a bygone era.
Then I discovered a poster advertising a re-launch on Sunday July 7th 2013. And then heard from Doug's son (the landlord of the Clock) that it never closed!
So we paid it a visit on Sunday 13th July. Met by Randolph (Randy) the landlord with a warm welcome it really was an eye opener. Complete with stage, pool table, intricate carvings inside and a Shipstone's price list from 1981! And all in the week that Shipstone's bitter has made a comeback in bottles. No real ale and no customers when we went. But a friendly welcome and a great piece of the past. A great find!
