A thriving "modern" estate pub with pool team and function room. Quite busy on a Monday night.

Wheatsheaf
Wheatsheaf on Sneinton Road, Nottingham. A classic estate pub. Quite busy but basic. Made reasonably welcome. No real ale. Some funny looks as we arrived. Wood burner keeping the place warm. TV on.
Queen Adelaide
A "modern" estate pub. As in, not an historic pub. But great views over the city! Quiet when we went on a Monday night. Budweiser on tap. Real fire. Large pub with function room and lounge but you have to go outside the pub to go between the two.

Duke of Cambridge
This small and basic pub is up for sale and doesn't look much from the outside but was really quite busy for a snowy March evening. Clearly in need of some TLC. However, the temporary landlord and the regulars made us welcome. No real ale.
Update Nov 2013: Pub closed.
The Vine
My favourite style of pub. The disappearing classic corner pub. Especially this curved, white design. A genuine piece of history. Like going back in time. Unchanged inside and out in many years. Sadly up for sale. Future uncertain. No real ale but friendly chap running this empty pub. Won't forget this visit.
Bath Inn
Another of my favourite designs of pub. Classic white walled, rounded, corner pub. Recently re-opened with half of the pub franchised as a chippy. Working well. Friendly welcome. Couple of regulars in here. Decent old fashioned atmosphere. And right behind the Vine.

Hole in the Wall
Traditional 1930's Whitbread pub. Now a rock pub serving 1 real ale (reasonable) when I went. Pool table. Feels like a regulars pub and a closed shop to rockers. This is the last remaining pub on North Sherwood Street with the Newcastle Arms, Saracen's Head, Sir Charles Napier all closed.

Greyhound
The Greyhound Arnold. Finally made it to this pub after many years of living so close but never going. Very basic. Handful of regulars sitting in a corridor. No real ale. A few funny looks as we arrived. Clearly a pub in decline and not long since a revamp.
Drive past on 4th May to find it boarded up. No great surprise but glad I just made it in time.

Robin Hood and Little John
Re-opened, renamed the Robin Hood and refurbished. A welcoming old Arnold pub. No real ale. Karaoke. We had Fosters. Chatty guy running the bar.
Waggon and Horses
Historic pub in Red Hill, Arnold. Very popular, busy pub. Live bands. Great real ale. Made welcome. Harvest Pale great.

Navigation
Great, classic pub! 12 (at least) real ales on. Very busy Friday lunchtime. Annie's Burger Shack franchise here is keeping it very busy indeed! Amazing burgers!

The Portland Arms
Friendly welcome. Darts. Pool. Decent Harvest Pale. Almost last pub in vicinity of Alfreton Road.
Update 2019 - now closed:
Wheeltappers at the Clock
My Great Grandad Ellis's pub who lived at 137 Birkin Avenue when it was a straight road up from Gregory Boulevard. House now gone. I had to go and find this pub to see if it still existed. It does. And it is thriving! Rumour has it my Great Grandad played cards here and used a mirror to cheat. There's definitely a mirror here that could be just the one. Karaoke on a Sunday afternoon. And sticky 13s. Packed with locals and regulars who travel in. Unspoiled but with a fantastic function room. Landlord Doug Patel made us very welcome and one of the regulars who's been drinking here since he was 15 (now 70) had lots of stories to tell. A favourite! Due to be updated August 2013.
